MCGREW HOUSE

Historic home of one of Preston County's most influential citizens. Listed on National Register of Historic places.  Visitors are able to schedule tours of the renovated McGrew House. Also, each year, various camps are held at the establishment. A small group in Kingwood, West Virginia, protested the demolition of the house and succeeded in renovating and making the house available for observance.

NEW DEAL FESTIVAL

The New Deal Festival is held annually on the second Saturday in July to celebrate the unique history of the first New Deal Homestead Community of Arthurdale. The event is sponsored by Arthurdale Heritage, Inc., the non-profit organization that formed to "restore yesterday for tomorrow." OLD HEMLOCK FOUNDATION

Old Hemlock was the home of George Bird and Kathryn Harris Evans.Mr. Evans was a noted artist, author, outsdoorsman and dog breeder.Mrs. Evans co-authored and edited books.Old Hemlock contains virgin hemlock trees and is to be maintained in its natural state as a nature and wildlife preserve.The house located on Old Hemlock was built in about 1782 and is the oldest residence in its state of preservation in Preston County, West Virginia.
